The 6th Annual South of the River Real Estate Summit hosted by Tim Little, the team of Crosstown Commercial and RE/MAX Premier Realty South Suburban was a tremendous success! Feature keynote opening by MN State Senator
Matt Little and presentations by the Mayors of Lakeville
(Doug Anderson), Apple Valley
(Mary Hamann-Roland), Rosemount
(Bill Droste), Eagan
(Mark Maguire), Farmington
(Todd Larson) and Burnsville
(Elizabeth Kautz) was a informative and main highlight of the day. With nearly 200 attendees, excellent sponsors and a great venue, this Summit continues to improve annually by leaps & bounds…thank you to those who attended this great event!
The presentations and overviews by each Mayor represented not only the robust commercial, residential, and business activity within each Dakota County city but also provided valuable insight into the overall growth and business economic forecasts facing those cities now and in the near future…and it’s all very positive! The networking, continuing education credit for those in the real estate industry, and the highlights of the event at Lost Spur Country Club in Eagan were not lost on the ending day’s weather – Crosstown Commercial looks forward to hosting the 7th Annual summit again next September 2019. Here are just a few key highlights of each Mayors presentation re: 2017:
Lakeville: With 29 Ribbon cuttings and with just the top end 12 commercial & industrial permit valuations totaling nearly ~$27 million- along with 17,173 business employment and 534 residential permits- Lakeville is Positioned to Thrive!
Apple Valley: Healthy to the Core & Fit for Life is not just an axiom for what is wanted but what is reality in Apple Valley. Just in the last several years, with over 450+ new homes & 2450+ new high density apartments along with improvements to Cobblestone Lake Park including new exercise equipment, the Orchard walking path, and ever shifting but well repositioned and invested corporate tenant improvements including those by Target, Cub Foods, The Regency Center, Starbucks, and Valley Oaks Dental to name a few, Apple Valley is on fire!
Rosemount: With a total housing permit issuance at 856 in the last 5 years, an extremely competitive tax rate with a total taxable value now at $2.59 billion within the city, Rosemount epitomizes the Spirit of Pride and Progress! New parks, school upgrades, large scale commercial projects, and sustainable energy growth with Rosemount being an ideal GreenStep City whose city government now subscribes to getting a whopping 60% of its energy from solar, this city is miles ahead in many residential and commercial development categories!
Eagan: Leading the charge with the #1 tax rate in Dakota County and a day time population exceeding 80,000, Eagan remains one of the largest employment bases and most attractive cities to living and working in the Twin Cities region. 2017 Year End permit building valuation nearly tripled from 2016 to 2017 and planning trends strongly support continuing residential and commercial development for the foreseeable future.
Farmington: With a development focused mind in commercial and an eye on new residential infill including Regetta Fields, Fairhill and Sapphire Lake boasting of ~428+ future new home sites, the tiger has been unleashed! In addition to the newly proposed Vermillion River Crossings and Rambling River Center Plaza projects, the community development initiatives are robust showing why the City of Farmington has a proud past and a very promising future.
